Welcome to A Piece of Scrap!!!

This is my freebie blog!! Hopefully I will be posting lots of freebies, although most likely not very regularly. Sometimes I am very inspired and come up with a lot, and other times not so much. So pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee...and let the good times roll!

Rise and Shine Tuesday!!!

Well, I felt like it was time for another freebie!!! But first, let me tell everyone about a little sale called the Fantastic Five!!! Five days, five designers, 5 kits, 50% off!!! Does that sound good? For 5 days only, at Just For The Scrap of It!!

So there is that! I've been working on a new kit for what seems like forever now, and it's just amazing how much life can get in the way! I've gotten back into crocheting, and now I'm learning to knit. I guess I am a crafty person lol. There's just nothing like seeing a work in progress and then finishing it. But all the new crafts have kept me from designing and scrapbooking...and I really need to get caught up with my CT! Hopefully I can work on a few LOs today!

Well, today is the first day for Babette's RIse and Shine Chat. It's at 10 a.m. EST (which would be 7 a.m. Pacific) at the justforthescrapofit.net chat room I'm going to be there, so if you want to have tons of early morning fun with me, you should be there!!

Here's the ad for the chat:

Alright, I've blabbed on enough. Here is todays freebie!! It's called Reading, 'Riting, and Rowdy Boys.

Download here: http://www.4shared.com/file/26367090/35ceb4cc/Fayth_ReadingRitingRowdyBoys.html

There is also an add on that I have previously given away, but here is the link again!

Download here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/26580554/6c6398f7/Fayth_RRBAddOn.html

Well that's it from me! I hope everyone has a GREAT day and I hope to see you at the Rise and Shine chat!!!

Yes, I know, I have been lazy and have not even updated my blog in forever!! But bear with me because I have SO SO SO much to share.

First of all, I am re-releasing all my kits from the contest at Just For The Scrap of It! After the contest all the links we're removed, and they were vaulted, but I am going to be posting them again. I am going to do them one at a time, because well...I just want more visitors lol. So I think I will just go in order, and today I will release the vintage heritage freebie kit!! Keep an eye out for it...it will be closer to the end of the post!!

While I am on the subject of kits, my very very first kit at Just For The Scrap of It is FINALLY IN THE STORE!!!! Yes, that's right, I am now a designer at Just For The Scrap of It!!!!!!!

Here's a quick sneak peak of the kit:

Included in the kit are:

8 ribbons/bows
3 funky shapes
1 tag
4 notecards
4 journaling
7 frames
3 doodles
6 buttons
3 brads
1 laced ribbon
3 word stamps

And since I am feeling really really generous today, I am also going to post the free quick page that I made with the kit!!!! It will just give you a little taste of what's involved...

That Retro Feeling Quick Page

And the best part is, JFTSOI is having a STORE WIDE SALE!!! Can you believe it, 50% off ALL products on Friday November 23 and Saterday November 24....aww heck, just look at the beautiful AD made by Babette!

There are so many new designers and a million new beautiful and amazing kits. I encourage everyone to go and have a quick look!!!

Well, it's just about time for me to go finish up Thanksgiving dinner, so here is the freebie I promised for today!!! Enjoy!! There are 2 download links, so be sure to get them both!!!

Download 1 (or click on image): Vintage Heritage Papers
Download 2: Vintage Heritage Elements

There are 6 papers, 2 frames, 2 ribbons (1 lace, 1 satin), 2 buttons, 2 tags...and I believe that's all of it!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!

I also wanted to throw this out there. It is so very important to always remember what we are thankful for, not just on T-day, but everyday. It's so easy to lose track of what is important. I am so thankful for my husband, my son, my family, and my savior. God bless everyone on this beautiful Thanksgiving Day!!

freebies and LOs and more!!

Well DS and I went out of town over the weekend. We were visiting my husbands Aunt and Uncle. They have a son that is about the same age as DS, so we always have a lot of fun with them. We went to Seaworld and had a blast! I'm sure there will be plenty of LOs using those pictures coming up soon...

But for now, I'm just going to share a LO from DS's 1st birthday. This is called Present Time, and it's done with Kylie Moore's Tied Up with String kit, which can be found at nuts4digi.com

And here is the BEAUTIFUL ad made by the BEAUTIFUL Babette!!

Have a SUPER fabulous day everyone!!

Another friday

Yup, it's friday again. I like fridays because I get to meet with a group of church mommies, and we sit and talk and the kids play. It's just so cool to get out like that.

I finished my kit for the third round of the JFTSOI So You Think You Can Design? contest. It won't be released until Sunday night, so I can't post anything yet. And I am going to be out of town, so I might not even post about it until late. But you can go to http://www.justforthescrapofit.net and keep an eye on the gallery. It's password protected until Sunday night.

I will be posted a small freebie add on to that kit as well...probably monday or tuesday. It's not as small as the last one, lol. Just some stuff that I wasn't able to include in the kit.

Well, anyway, that's about it. I don't have any new LOs or anything to share really. Just been working my butt off getting that kit finished!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

just occurred to me...

that i never posted the link to the voting section! Silly, right?

So anyone who wants to vote in the Just for the Scrap of It, "So you think you can design...?" contest, go to this link:

Vote!!

Decide who's you like the best, and then vote for them!

Mine is about halfway down, or halfway up for those of you who do things backwards.

I'm not so sure that I will make it to the next round...which sucks because I am about halfway done with the kit for the next round! I'm having a lot of fun with it too. You know how you think of things and sometimes they work and sometimes they dont? Well, it just seems like most of those things are working today!! I guess even if I don't make it to the next round I will have to finish it.

On another note...here is the preview to my first kit for sale!! I am sooo excited about this cute little kit. It's all bright colors, mostly primary (red, blue, yellow, green, orange and purple) and it's just fun fun fun!!

ANd I know that I promised a sampler freebie, and I swear I am working on it. This round 3 kit has got me all up in bunches....but, the longer it takes me, the better it will be (ha!!).

And, I am already tinkering around with a new kit...hmm...sounds interesting? Well, come back at a later date, and you will be able to see!!
Well, I'm cutting this short. DS has given me his cold, and then he busted my lip this morning (isn't he sweet?).

Have a WONDERFULLY FANTABULOUS day everyone!!

Monday, October 15, 2007

A new boy freebie!!!

Well, another week in the JFTSOI So You Think You Can Design contest has ended...or begun. Depends on how you look at it. Anyway, voting for round 2 begins tomorrow!! That's Tuesday, Oct 16 for those of your who are not reading this the same day that I am writing it. Voting is for 2 days, so make sure to get your votes in!!!

Here is my entry (click the preview for the link)

And the link to the rest of the gallery:
And I also make a little....very little add on. Lol, it's actually just another paper and journaling strips. I would have made more, but I am busy working on my round 3 kit! I know I haven't actually made it to round 3 yet, but I am going out of town over the weekend, so I have to finish this kit by Thursday...
Anyway, here is the add on:
Yeah, that's right. I didn't even make a preview for it. It's a pretty dotted page, and matching green journaling strips. Trust me, it's cute and it matches!!
So anyway...go download the entire kit from the JFTSOI gallery (and pick up some of the other freebies) and then download the add on, and come back to vote tomorrow and the next day!!

Saturday, October 13, 2007

It's saturday night!

and, since I am a mother with no babysitter, I am at home on the internet, lol. Not that there's anything wrong with that. To be completely honest, even if I did have a babysitter, I don't have my husband so what else would I do?

Anyway. I finally finished my round 2 kit for the So You Think You Can Design contest over at Just For The Scrap Of It. There's no point in going to look yet, because the gallery for the entires is password protected until Sunday night. But, let me just say, there are 10 entries so far and they are all incredible. I don't mean to rub it in anyones faces, but they look amazing! I don't know how people are going to vote on this one!

But, as soon as I am allowed, I will post a preview, and maybe I'll even have a little extra freebie...I wish I had taken more time on my preview though. I thought it looked okay, but it looks kind of monotone...hmmmm...That's one thing that I really need to practice, my preview making skills.

On another note, I finished my first kit that is going to be for SALE! That's right, I am going to be a designer at kutnkudlyskreations.com/shop. It's a fairly new store, and I am really excited about it! As soon as that is up, I will be posting a freebie sampler, and maybe even a little QP...we will just have to see what my schedule is like next week.

Okay, onto my newest LOs.
This is a day in the life of DS! I was participating in a toddler of the week thing, and spent one day just taking pictures of Marshall. This is really just a quick overview of his day!

Kit: B is for Boy by Linda Cumberland at thescrappinggarden.com

And last, but most definitely not least, Marshall playing with some of his "toys". He really prefers to play with things that aren't toys, like his stroller...

This LO is done with Kylie Moore's Smudge kit, which can be found at snapandscrap.net

Well, I think that's it for today!! I will be getting all my promised freebies out at the beginning of the week, so don't miss it!!

Have a great day, and week everyone!!

Let the Voting Begin!!

Well, voting begins today in the So you think you can design contest, and let me just say, there are some wonderful entries! Don't forget to check them all out, and vote for your favorite! If you don't have a favorite...then just vote for me ;)

Anyway, the voting link:
http://justforthescrapofit.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=592

You have to be a meber to join, and to download the links, so please register at the forums!!

I made a little quick page for the kit...I'll be honest, it was to attract vistors and hopefully get some more people voting.

I am working diligently on my kit for the next round...so here's to hoping that I make it through!! I feel like I have so much to do, and so little time! I have to get my car ready to be sold today (get it washed, oil changed, and maybe even a detail if I can find the time) plus get ready to go away this weekend, and I have 2 kits I am working on. It's a good thing my son has trained me to run on very little sleep lol!!

So don't forget to vote!! There are 21 beautiful kits, all available for download, but you can only vote for one!

Have a super wonderful day everybody!!

Vintage Heritage Freebie!!

Wow, it's been so crazy busy around here!! Between the Just For The Scrap of It design contest (So...You Think You Can Design), the start of the new month, CT requirements, and then life in general, I am amazed that anything actually gets done! But alas, I have finished my round 1 entry to the JFTSOI contest (yay!!) I'll link to the gallery at the end of the post. I also managed to get a CT LO done yesterday!! And I am about to do another one with one of Kylie's kits.
And now I am in the middle of two kits...both very secret and special. But be on the lookout later this week...wait it's Friday isn't it? Okay so early next week.

So this morning I woke up and found this blinkie from Andrea:

How sweet is that? I love it SOOO much, Andrea!! Thank you!!!! I wish I could make awesome blinkies like that...I haven't even made a blinkie for this blog yet!!

Okay, so the LO is of my son (like that's a suprise, right?). He was trying on his daddy's boots. This is done with the fabulous B is for Boys kit by Linda Cumberland at The Scrapping Garden. I choose this kit intentionally because it is so perfect for boys. There's blues, greens, gold and tan. Plus the cutest little truck!

And last, but not least, is my entry to the contest!!
There are 14 entries at the moment, and all of them are amazing. Best part is, we all used the same color scheme so if you DL all of them you will have a super mega kit!!!
You have to register if you want to vote, and voting starts...uhm. The 9th I believe. I'll have to check lol. But my point was, register now so you will be prepared to vote!!
And check back to my blog next week because I have a special little add on to the kit. But I won't be posting that until it's voting season!
Oh, and there just may be a little extra freebie for the members of JFTSOI...MAAAYYYBBBBEEE.
That's all from me for now!! Have a WONDERFUL day everyone!!!

Whooops, almost forgot!

I cannot believe I almost forgot this! Kylie, the sweetie that she is, nominated ME as creative blogger! I am just like dumbfounded! This is like, the coolest thing ever! So now I get to nominate 5 people!! This is really not a hard decision.

Heather, duh! And I pick Babette, because she's just so freakin cool, Tanyia, because you gotta love Tanyia. She's re-freebieing all her freebies right now! How awesome is that??

Tammy, because I'm just getting to know Tammy and she seems so awesome. AND I gotta go with Andrea. Love that book about Atha...love it.

I would have nominated Kylie and Kari...but they've already got their nominations lol!!

Miss me?

Yes, I took a few days off of blogging, but I have my reasons! First of all, the first week of the So...you think you can design? contest at Just For The Scrap of It was released Monday!! I have been working my tail off thinking and creating and getting my hands "dirty" and all that jazz. Second...okay there is no second, I am just lazy.

But here is the newest layout from moi. It's my nephew Carsen, adorable...just adorable. Anyway, That's not me in the picture, is my sister in law. Beautiful, right??

Swirls are for Boys, too kit by Kylie Moore at nuts4digi.com. Great kit y'all! Great great awesome kit!

This is also for the Wacky Wednesday challenge over at Kylie's CT blog (linkie!)
There will be another challenge tomorrow...so check it out!!!!

Well, short post from me today, I know. I am trying to do 3,000,000 things, and well...I just don't have time!

Friday, September 28, 2007

Zoo Day!!

DS and I decided to go to the zoo today...or should I say that I decided and forced DS to go with me. We've been meaning to go back for awhile now, but it just seems like we have so much other stuff to do. Anyway, here is a picture of him looking at the camel. He was very curious...

We got to see all kinds of things...giraffes, white tigers, a hawk, monkeys...and two elephants have sex. I don't think he knew what was going on, but some of the older kids that we're all the zoo got a real show.

Anyway, here's a LO I did. Unfortunately, I thought today was Saturday, and put the wrong date on it, lol. I'll have to go back and fix it tomorrow.

So, this is DS brushing his teeth this morning. He doesn't really do it well, but I just think it's so cute. The kit is called Swirls Are For Boys, by Kylie Moore. And you can buy it at nuts4digi.com!!

Well that's it for today!!!!

Have you ever seen a Super Mega Monster Kit? Because you're about to. I'm talking about 85 pages, over 100 elements, and a whole lot of fun. What it this Super Mega Monster Kit, you ask? It's a collaboration effort from 9 superb designers. All of them are contestants in the "So...you think you can design" contest that is starting October 1st at Just For The Scrap Of It (hence the kit name...pretty sneaky, eh? eh?)

So, here's the deal. At this blog, you get my portion of the kit. Then you go on to the next blog to get the next part. You'll visit a total of 9 blogs and end up with the SUPER MEGA MONSTER KIT!! Here is a preview of the entire kit:

It really makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I truly appreciate each and every comment and wanted to say THANKS to everyone who commented. It is so very inspiring!

new LO, woo hoo!

I think I use exclamation points too often...I mean, I am a happy person, but not like super-de-duper fantabulous happy. I just like my exclmation points...!!

Anyway, I made a new LO using the beautiful Kylie Moore's fantastic Pink Swirl Delight kit, which can be found at nuts4digi.com.
This is me trying to wedding dresses. DH and I had started planning a big wedding in March of '06, but then we hit some rough times (financially, not relationship wise) and decided to postpone the wedding. Anyway, I had actually bought a dress, the first one, and we decided to return it. We ended up having a very small wedding, with a very simple dress and a few family members. Looking back now, we made the right decision. We are not the type of people to have a big to-do about anything, and I think we would have both been uncomfortable at a huge wedding. But, I did have a lot of fun trying on the fancypants wedding dresses...and that's what this LO is about.

I have been working on a few new kits myself...I won't release any details, but I am getting pretty excited. I'm also working on a really cool new book for Marshall (which uses the kit I am making..hehe) So, big things will be happening here pretty soon...at least, I hope pretty soon.
Unfortunately, I have to work on all this in between packing, planning and caring for le bebe...

Well, that's it for me. Have a great weekend everyone!

ooo a friday freebie!

Well, I just found out that my niece had open heart surgery today. She's actually my brothers niece, but her mother is a good friend of mine from high school, and well, her and her sister and the only nieces I have. Anyway, Faris has a congenital heart defect which has caused her to be in an out of the hospital since her birth in April. I haven't heard how the surgery this morning went, but I know that they expect her to be in PICU for about a week, and then in a regular room in the hospital for a few weeks after that. She's such a trooper...Please pray for her recovery to be fast and painless.

So I have the house all to myself all day today...and what do I do? I plant myself on the couch and watch tv all morning. Then I fell asleep with DS during his nap...So I've gotten very little done today. And of course, now the dog and the baby are fighting. I think I'll just post the freebie and go out and get something done. Onto the freeb...

Well, these weren't originally going to be released until Monday, but seeing as I am no longer in the contest, I get to release them early! Woo hoo!! Well, woo hoo for y'all...

Anyway, these are the matching elements to the Playing With Dirt (aka Playing in Dirt) kit. Don't ask why there are two names...it was late, one got 'in' and the other got 'with'. There are the 12 elements that I submitted to the Digitals Design Star Competetion, and then 3 others that I had made earlier. I fixed all the elements, so they should be fine. Those ladies at DDS are sticklers for quality, so I feel confident that if this passes their tests, they are of good quality.

Please leave a comment! I love to read what y'all have to say...makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And it motivates me to work on new things...(i.e. freebies...since I don't sell at any stores)
Hope everyone has a great day and a great weekend!!!!!!!!

Thursday, September 20, 2007

Boo hoo...

Well, I can't blame anyone but myself, but I was disqualified from the digitals design contest. It was really a stupid error...last minute they decided that if the quality control team found any errors we would have one chance to fix it. So dumb ol' me decided to throw something together, send it in, and pray. Well...I had errors on 5 out of my 12 elements (lol...that's bad, eh?) So, during DS's nap time I got to fix 4 of them. Saved the hard one for last...gr...I got to redo it, sent it in real quick...and yep, you guessed it, totally mucked it up. I mean, the mistake I made was so blatent. Someone should come smack me upside the head. There was a giant blue line on my fastener!!! Okay, it wasn't giant, but it was pretty obvious.

So, I am a little dissapointed. The staff there, and especially Stacy Mann, have a GREAT contest going - very much sticklers for quality! But it just proves that their in store products are going to be of excellent quality. Maybe in the future I will apply there to be a designer...we will just have to see.

I haven't re-fixed (again...) the elements for the playing with dirt kit, but I will do that tomorrow and then release them as a freebie! Maybe even with a few special other treats...woo hoo.
I want to thank everyone who voted for me! The contest was so much fun to be in. I absolutely cannot wait for the design contest at Just For the Scrap of It. Starts Oct 1st...it's sneaking up on me...quickly.

Well...I do have a few layouts to share.

This is from my husband basic training graduation...what a day. I am so incredibly proud of him. I know that bct was a challenge, but he owned up to it and really excelled. He was so excited on graduation day that I could hardly get a picture with him looking at the camera!
Winter Morning kit by Kylie Moore. This kit is so cool. Lot of beautiful colors and really neat elements...I especially love the journaling tool.

And this is my mother-in-law...such a sweet woman. I am so blessed to have a MIL like her.
My Journal kit by Joan Thompson at the Scrapping Garden. Awesome kit, lots of journaling pages and interesting elements!

Monday, September 17, 2007

ah, I was tagged!!

my first tag (i need a really cute smiley to go here...) by Kari!!!!!!! So I guess I need to think of 6 things about me...eh.......this seems incredibly difficult

1. I used to be in an online gaming clan who are now semi-famous (i saw them on a PC gaming magazine yesterday...) Just think of who I would be now if I had kept playing.

2. I graduated high school and college each in 3 and a half years, one of those combined. So it took me 6 years to get through both...and that was not because I am freaking smart either. (too bad...)

3. My first born in a cat named Spencer...who we found out was a girl after we'd had her for 3 months. She's almost 5 now, and I adore her

4. My husband and I moved in together after we had known each other for 3 months. He was 17 and I was 18. It took us 4 years to get married though.
5. My baby boy is my life, and he still does not sleep through the night. I'm not complaining though, I haven't tried to sleep train him very much (he's 13 months btw)

6. I love my in-laws...all of them. They're crazy as all hell, but I consider them to be my family and couldn't imagine life without them!

Okay, so I get to tag a few people now...I think I'm getting Heather, Tanyia, and Andrea!

Okay, now a few new LO's. I'm merging my two blogs because, lets face it, one is more than enough.

So, I am just going to take this directly from my old blog (lazy lazy lazy...)

Anyway, here is a LO I made using Kylie Moore's gorgeous Bubble Bath kit which can be bought from her new store at snap and scrap

Another page from one of Kylie's beautimous kits. This one is from the pink swirl delight kit! Now, this is actually a love letter I wrote to my husband. I blurred the actual words because well...it was not appropriate for public viewing lol. No, it really wasn't bad, but it's private. I love how it turned out though, and wanted to share.Oh, and the pink swirl delight kit can be found at Nuts4digi.com

And last, but not least...this is a kit I did for a contest at Just for the scrap of it (linkie) This may be one of my favorite LOs...of course it features my two top men!

SO that's it for me today!!!

Round 3 here I come!

Well, the voting for round 2 of the digitals design star ended yesterday, and I made it through by the hair on my neck. 6 people were eliminated, and I was number 7.

So, here is the direct link to the Playing In Dirt papers. The round 3 challenge is to make matching elements, so those will be uploaded tuesday or wednesday at the digitals gallery. Then next monday I can offer them on my blog (after voting has completed)

Enjoy the papers!

Indian Summer Kit Freebie!!

I hope I don't spoil anyone by releasing 2 freebies in 2 days. I just got a little motivation behind me and got this one out. I actually really love this kit...it's very "fall" and "autumny". I may add on to it later, as with all of the kits I do. I usually think of something cool just after I publish it...which is actually kind of frustrating.

As always, please share this with your friends, but link them to my blog, not just the download link! And feel free to leave some comments!

Download Here!

New freebie kit - Watermelons !!

I am so excited about this new kit. I am truly proud of it, even though I don't have any pictures to use it with yet. I love the colors though, and I worked really hard on the backgrounds - 11 total!! But it's really late and I've got to go to bed! Enjoy the freebie!!

J'ai retourne!

I'm not really even sure if that is proper french, but yes, I am back! I've actually been in Tampa for about a week, but it has been a crazy week in which nothing was accomplished. So, no I have not yet made any new kits or anything. I am working on a few with some really pretty colors. Hopefully I will be able to work on the new kits over the next few days and get some released. I am not in any hurry though because I want full and complete kits. I want to make sure that everything that might be needed is included. I hate getting a really cute kit and then not having a matching border or something!

Anyway, enough rambling. This was my entry to the Blueprints by Monica challenge over at gottapixel.net. For some reason the text is coming up white...and the color of the flowers is a bit odd too. I have no clue why it's doing that! I will figure it out though, and fix the problem.

Well that's it for tonight. I would be working on my kits but my son is asleep in the computer room! And there is no way that I am going to disturb him...tomorrow though, I will start working 24/7.

begins and endings

Well, not really endings, but long breaks. Unfortunately, it is time for the family to move, yet again, and we will not have internet for about a month. We may be able to get on occasionally at cyber cafes and such, but there won't be enough time for updating the blog and uploading new kits. But the good news is, instead of surfing the internet at home, I will be creating new kits! So when I get back, hopefully I will have a whole slew of new freebie kits to share!

So now, I will share the two kits I have completed. Now, neither of them have terms of use, but please understand that is just because I doubt anyone would want to steal them anyway. But please do not claim any of the papers, elements, or anything else as your own. If you want to use them, just credit me (fayth) and link to my blog.

Also, do not direct anyone to the download link, please direct people to the blog!

So, that is all I can start with for now! I cannot wait to return so I can update with more and really get this blog going! I hope to be able to join a CT someday and possibly even have my own store.

Welcome!!

This is the first post of A Piece of Scrap!! I am so excited about this, I have HUGE plans set up!!

A little about me first. I am 23 years old with one beautiful baby boy, and a wonderful husband in the army. I have been tinkering with graphic design for about 5 years now, mostly with Photoshop CS2. I started out doing signatures for my friends, then I went onto requests. That was a thankless and fairly redundant "job", so I stopped for awhile. Then I got into paper scrapbooking, and realized that I could use my graphic talent to make really awesome pages! So I've only been digital scrapbooking for a few weeks now, but I absolutely love it! I've already started converting my family members and friends who scrap.

I think it's time for me to get started making some pages and such!
