Welcome to A Piece of Scrap!!!

This is my freebie blog!! Hopefully I will be posting lots of freebies, although most likely not very regularly. Sometimes I am very inspired and come up with a lot, and other times not so much. So pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee...and let the good times roll!

Zoo Day!!

DS and I decided to go to the zoo today...or should I say that I decided and forced DS to go with me. We've been meaning to go back for awhile now, but it just seems like we have so much other stuff to do. Anyway, here is a picture of him looking at the camel. He was very curious...

We got to see all kinds of things...giraffes, white tigers, a hawk, monkeys...and two elephants have sex. I don't think he knew what was going on, but some of the older kids that we're all the zoo got a real show.

Anyway, here's a LO I did. Unfortunately, I thought today was Saturday, and put the wrong date on it, lol. I'll have to go back and fix it tomorrow.

So, this is DS brushing his teeth this morning. He doesn't really do it well, but I just think it's so cute. The kit is called Swirls Are For Boys, by Kylie Moore. And you can buy it at nuts4digi.com!!

Well that's it for today!!!!

Just For the Fall of It

Have you ever seen a Super Mega Monster Kit? Because you're about to. I'm talking about 85 pages, over 100 elements, and a whole lot of fun. What it this Super Mega Monster Kit, you ask? It's a collaboration effort from 9 superb designers. All of them are contestants in the "So...you think you can design" contest that is starting October 1st at Just For The Scrap Of It (hence the kit name...pretty sneaky, eh? eh?)

So, here's the deal. At this blog, you get my portion of the kit. Then you go on to the next blog to get the next part. You'll visit a total of 9 blogs and end up with the SUPER MEGA MONSTER KIT!! Here is a preview of the entire kit:

And here is the preview to my part. Mine has 7 papers and 12 elements.

Download here!!

Don't forget to check out all the other designers blogs and grab the whole kit! Next in line is JaydensMama

new LO, woo hoo!

I think I use exclamation points too often...I mean, I am a happy person, but not like super-de-duper fantabulous happy. I just like my exclmation points...!!

Anyway, I made a new LO using the beautiful Kylie Moore's fantastic Pink Swirl Delight kit, which can be found at nuts4digi.com.
This is me trying to wedding dresses. DH and I had started planning a big wedding in March of '06, but then we hit some rough times (financially, not relationship wise) and decided to postpone the wedding. Anyway, I had actually bought a dress, the first one, and we decided to return it. We ended up having a very small wedding, with a very simple dress and a few family members. Looking back now, we made the right decision. We are not the type of people to have a big to-do about anything, and I think we would have both been uncomfortable at a huge wedding. But, I did have a lot of fun trying on the fancypants wedding dresses...and that's what this LO is about.

I have been working on a few new kits myself...I won't release any details, but I am getting pretty excited. I'm also working on a really cool new book for Marshall (which uses the kit I am making..hehe) So, big things will be happening here pretty soon...at least, I hope pretty soon.
Unfortunately, I have to work on all this in between packing, planning and caring for le bebe...

Well, that's it for me. Have a great weekend everyone!

ooo a friday freebie!

Well, I just found out that my niece had open heart surgery today. She's actually my brothers niece, but her mother is a good friend of mine from high school, and well, her and her sister and the only nieces I have. Anyway, Faris has a congenital heart defect which has caused her to be in an out of the hospital since her birth in April. I haven't heard how the surgery this morning went, but I know that they expect her to be in PICU for about a week, and then in a regular room in the hospital for a few weeks after that. She's such a trooper...Please pray for her recovery to be fast and painless.

So I have the house all to myself all day today...and what do I do? I plant myself on the couch and watch tv all morning. Then I fell asleep with DS during his nap...So I've gotten very little done today. And of course, now the dog and the baby are fighting. I think I'll just post the freebie and go out and get something done. Onto the freeb...

Well, these weren't originally going to be released until Monday, but seeing as I am no longer in the contest, I get to release them early! Woo hoo!! Well, woo hoo for y'all...

Anyway, these are the matching elements to the Playing With Dirt (aka Playing in Dirt) kit. Don't ask why there are two names...it was late, one got 'in' and the other got 'with'. There are the 12 elements that I submitted to the Digitals Design Star Competetion, and then 3 others that I had made earlier. I fixed all the elements, so they should be fine. Those ladies at DDS are sticklers for quality, so I feel confident that if this passes their tests, they are of good quality.

Please leave a comment! I love to read what y'all have to say...makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And it motivates me to work on new things...(i.e. freebies...since I don't sell at any stores)
Hope everyone has a great day and a great weekend!!!!!!!!

Boo hoo...

Well, I can't blame anyone but myself, but I was disqualified from the digitals design contest. It was really a stupid error...last minute they decided that if the quality control team found any errors we would have one chance to fix it. So dumb ol' me decided to throw something together, send it in, and pray. Well...I had errors on 5 out of my 12 elements (lol...that's bad, eh?) So, during DS's nap time I got to fix 4 of them. Saved the hard one for last...gr...I got to redo it, sent it in real quick...and yep, you guessed it, totally mucked it up. I mean, the mistake I made was so blatent. Someone should come smack me upside the head. There was a giant blue line on my fastener!!! Okay, it wasn't giant, but it was pretty obvious.

So, I am a little dissapointed. The staff there, and especially Stacy Mann, have a GREAT contest going - very much sticklers for quality! But it just proves that their in store products are going to be of excellent quality. Maybe in the future I will apply there to be a designer...we will just have to see.

I haven't re-fixed (again...) the elements for the playing with dirt kit, but I will do that tomorrow and then release them as a freebie! Maybe even with a few special other treats...woo hoo.
I want to thank everyone who voted for me! The contest was so much fun to be in. I absolutely cannot wait for the design contest at Just For the Scrap of It. Starts Oct 1st...it's sneaking up on me...quickly.

Well...I do have a few layouts to share.

This is from my husband basic training graduation...what a day. I am so incredibly proud of him. I know that bct was a challenge, but he owned up to it and really excelled. He was so excited on graduation day that I could hardly get a picture with him looking at the camera!
Winter Morning kit by Kylie Moore. This kit is so cool. Lot of beautiful colors and really neat elements...I especially love the journaling tool.

And this is my mother-in-law...such a sweet woman. I am so blessed to have a MIL like her.
My Journal kit by Joan Thompson at the Scrapping Garden. Awesome kit, lots of journaling pages and interesting elements!

ah, I was tagged!!

my first tag (i need a really cute smiley to go here...) by Kari!!!!!!! So I guess I need to think of 6 things about me...eh.......this seems incredibly difficult

1. I used to be in an online gaming clan who are now semi-famous (i saw them on a PC gaming magazine yesterday...) Just think of who I would be now if I had kept playing.

2. I graduated high school and college each in 3 and a half years, one of those combined. So it took me 6 years to get through both...and that was not because I am freaking smart either. (too bad...)

3. My first born in a cat named Spencer...who we found out was a girl after we'd had her for 3 months. She's almost 5 now, and I adore her

4. My husband and I moved in together after we had known each other for 3 months. He was 17 and I was 18. It took us 4 years to get married though.
5. My baby boy is my life, and he still does not sleep through the night. I'm not complaining though, I haven't tried to sleep train him very much (he's 13 months btw)

6. I love my in-laws...all of them. They're crazy as all hell, but I consider them to be my family and couldn't imagine life without them!

Okay, so I get to tag a few people now...I think I'm getting Heather, Tanyia, and Andrea!

Okay, now a few new LO's. I'm merging my two blogs because, lets face it, one is more than enough.

So, I am just going to take this directly from my old blog (lazy lazy lazy...)

Anyway, here is a LO I made using Kylie Moore's gorgeous Bubble Bath kit which can be bought from her new store at snap and scrap

Another page from one of Kylie's beautimous kits. This one is from the pink swirl delight kit! Now, this is actually a love letter I wrote to my husband. I blurred the actual words because well...it was not appropriate for public viewing lol. No, it really wasn't bad, but it's private. I love how it turned out though, and wanted to share.Oh, and the pink swirl delight kit can be found at Nuts4digi.com

And last, but not least...this is a kit I did for a contest at Just for the scrap of it (linkie) This may be one of my favorite LOs...of course it features my two top men!

SO that's it for me today!!!

Round 3 here I come!

Well, the voting for round 2 of the digitals design star ended yesterday, and I made it through by the hair on my neck. 6 people were eliminated, and I was number 7.

So, here is the direct link to the Playing In Dirt papers. The round 3 challenge is to make matching elements, so those will be uploaded tuesday or wednesday at the digitals gallery. Then next monday I can offer them on my blog (after voting has completed)

Enjoy the papers!
